Little Penguin Dash is junior beach biathlon for 7 to 14 year olds, run in age-group heats.
There are two different length courses for ages 7-10 and 11-14 year olds.
Swim depth is adjusted for each age.
All ages will put their runners on in their age's transition area (7–10-year-olds near the toilets, 11–14-year-olds at the pier triangle), then wave to cheering crowds as they run under the event finish arch on The Esplanade in front of the pub to be presented with their medal.
Marshal at the start on Cowes beach, east of the pier 15min before the race.
Register at Race Centre (North Pier Hotel) and receive your race number and swim cap.
Little Penguin Dash is participation-focused. Entrants are not timed and places will not be awarded.

Prices include GST, online entries only open 6pm the day before the event.
The minimum competitor age is 7 years on the day of the event. The maximum competitor age is 14 years on the day of the event.
Local resident category
To be eligible for local resident category prizes, competitor must have permanent residential address in Bass Coast Shire

+COMPETITION DAY
Register
Check in or register at Race Centre, receive your race number and coloured swimming cap – the colour dictates which start wave you will be in.
Transition set-up
Place in your your allotted area:
• Runners/socks
• Hat, if hot
• Drink bottle (filled with water)
• Brightly-coloured towel (easy to spot)
• Any medication you might need, eg. asthma inhaler
Practice your transition from swim gear to running gear at home beforehand

Competitors receive a medal, water, and fruit upon finishing. Entrants are not timed and places not awarded.
Transition retrieval
Once the heat is completed, one parent may retrieve gear from the transition area. Time will be tight and the area congested, so one parent should be ready to retrieve once the all clear is given.
+RULES AND REGULATIONS
No extraneous aids are allowed. This includes, but is not limited to fins, boards, snorkels, flotation gear, and personal support teams.
Wetsuits may be worn.
Course Marshals shall have the authority to disqualify any competitors.
Race officials shall have the ultimate and final authority to remove a competitor if the competitor is judged to be physically incapable of continuing the race without risk of injury.
All competitors must adhere to the course as marked.
Competitors will be required to have an official race number, and during the swim, wear an official sponsor’s swim cap, provided upon registration.
Organizers reserve the right to accept, reject, and cancel entries.
The spirit of friendly competition should be maintained throughout the event. Any unsportsmanlike behaviour will be grounds for immediate disqualification.
Only those participants who have trained and feel competent to complete the event should enter the event.
We recommend wetsuits and goggles be worn by swimmers.
